Overview:
These bombers are made for a quicker and heavier attack upon stationary or even slower moving targets. Their heavily armored wings protect them from most side attacks, though a well-aimed blast can get around them. The rest of the ship is well armored as well and can withstand repeated attacks. They are also the first bombers known to be controlled by the Confederation of Cor.
Capabilities:
The Eclypse can defend itself with its other weapons, but only for a short while. Its main defense is the extremely strong armored wings that protect its nuclear arsenal. Unlike the Nightmare’s arsenal the Eclypse has the carrying capabilities of a nuclear equipped naval vessel, though the missiles are smaller in size, they do almost the same amount of damage. These nukes can be used to destroy naval warships, planetary bases, cities, or large space stations.
The Eclypse’s main propulsion system is its duel nuclear reactors, but its secondary propulsion comes from the smaller energy thrusters mounted one on each wing. These thrusters provide it with an upper hand if it is trying to run away, but after sustained usage they are likely to overheat and meltdown.
The Eclyspe’s main weapon is its bombs, it can drop these onto planetary and sometimes non-orbiting targets. Its two futon lasers are a new design. They charge, then release an energy bolt capable of powering down any electronic equipment in a cone shaped area opening in the direction fired. Pilots must make sure that when they fire these no allies are in the path and that they are not pointing anywhere near a friendly planet. Stray energy sometimes can shutdown the Eclyspe itself, but they are working to fix this. The guns take about five minutes to charge, and must be fired within two minutes of complete charge or they overheat. Then they also have a cool-down time, found by the equation (30t + 60=seconds of cool-down time) (t stands for seconds they are fully charged), after each shot is fired.
Deployment:
The Eclypse’s plans were first drawn out by Burham designers. Near the completion of the first squadrons, the planet of Cor, the planet they were being built on, rebelled. The rebellion forces seized the bombers that were being built and used them and other units to defeat any resistance upon the planet and its orbiting moons.
